Stuck bigtime on the landing gear. Built it twice already, and I am still not happy with the results I am getting...
Has anyone got GOOD pictures of the landing gear. I need persective views that show the strut arrangement between the wheels clearly. Also, the angles the various struts are at.
All the plan views I have seem to either show a front view with no clarity, or a side view with the outer struts and shock abcsorbers hiding what I need to see!
This is VERY frustrating!
I could also do with some extra info on the engine mounting struts, and the struts linking the engines to the fuselage. From the pictures I have, it is not clear whether tehy are pipes to feed fuel / oil, wires or spars! Obviousely...I need to build them correctly, or it will spoil the look!
This is just about it for the detail LOD once done. I will build some lower detail LODS for wings /fuse / tail, and then UV map the whole thing, and then I can dump it into AC3D for Aergon to build in OPS |

That's a tall order, maybe:
This is actually a 0/100, but the gear appears the same:
And you've probably seen this:
And this:
If it helps, it seems the upside-down 'V' struts go down to a rod between the wheels oriented fore-and-aft, and that rod serves as a hinge for the axles on the wheel on either side to move up and down, dampened by the shock absorbers on the outside of the wheels.
Mossie's site has an excellent plan of the gear, and the shocks are drawn 'transparent' so that you can see what's behind it, with different perspectives. |

Do you have the German drawings of the HP O/400, one shows the undercarriage in detail. _________________ Mossie

LOD 1 modelling complete....... now to make some low detail bits and UV map.
OVerall polycount ( including full interior and basic panel : 2300. More than I like to use...but I suspect it should be OK. Low detail wings, landing gear, fuselage etc. should see that drop off quite quickly. |

Yeah, and you can give us teaser pics! Nothing like new aircraft to keep the excitement buzzing.
Do you think the material a few threads ago was enough to do a squadron with?
I'm really looking forward to this bomber, I think she's really going to round out the British selection nicely! As I've said before, she's beautiful, and she's one of those aircraft that leap to my mind when you mention WWI air. Flying a bomber is a different kind of game, too. Aside from defending yourself, you have to hit the target, which I need some practice on... flying in the bombsight view is not all that easy.
And if you fancy flying German fighters, THIS adds some nice variety of opponents, and a real challenge. I don't know about you, but if I were in a Fokker Triplane (my German aircraft of choice), I'd MUCH rather dogfight three AI Sopwiths than one of these flown by AI... _________________ Fair Winds and Following Seas,

This one shouldn't be that tricky a target to down....The guns at the rear have a limited arc, and the tail must shield quite a large area of target...
No defence against attacks from 6 o'clock low. In theory, a good poilot should be able to sit under the tail and chew her up
Not like the Ca33 ....... If you want to kill one of those, go head to head, and make sure you don't fly OVER
One question....excuse the appalling memory here...but is it possible to kill gunners?
Hmmm...teaser pics...weeelllll...I could... but then again |

Gunners? I believe so..
The Ca.33 is like the flying fortress of WWI right now! Which is why I want to get rid of the 3 rear guns soon... _________________ 'Go Fly A Kite!'

Shooting the tails off of Hp 0/400s was always fun in RB3D. |
