What do you guys recommend for a 19" flat screen monitor? Typical home use, without speakers. I would like to keep the price around $350 including shipping. I'm looking at the Dell1905FP and the ViewSonic VA912B (even though I hate to pay for speakers I don't need), but haven't actually seen either one in use. Any other suggestions?

Thanks

Hi Jerry,

I'm very pleased with my Samsung 930b i bought about 2 months ago & think I got it a best buy in your price range.

My mom has view sonic 19 inch (not sure of the model ) that she loves but I think my samsung has a sharper picture, but that may be subjective (beauty is in the eye of the beholder)

The only bad thing I've noticed about Veiw Sonic is that their quality seems to vary from person to person. Some have no issues & say there are great but I have also seen several purchasers stating that they had issues (dead pixels being among them) & had several returns. My guess is maybe they have quailty control issues but again, that's just a guess.

To repeat, I love my Samsung 19" LCD falt panel but it is limited to 1280x1024 max resolution but does have a super fast response time (critical for gaming) ang good (700:1) contrast ratio. (also important to gaming)

I have a Dell (17") monitor at work similar to the one you are describing & it's pretty nice too. Good sharp picture, good contrast & response time.

hope this helps... Smile
(good to see you again) Very Happy

I guess most TFTs are dooing a good job now until it comes to represents greyscales.
so if you have a chance to compare monitors have a look at greyscale table and there for the darker parts.
