Got it. Thank you.

It seems I already had most of these apps as the developers package from a couple years back?

I'll try out the .OL to .sm converter, I think that's the one I want to use.. Confused

Ah yes they were included in that. I couldn't remember if you had unTile and such. The OL to SM converter is what I used quite a bit of when I revamped the Somme terrain back in '08/'09. Damn, has it been that long? Shocked Confused

You can't export this to a lod because the lod_export plugin can only go up to 4000 polygons.
Also SMD and OLC is limited to 1000 LODS per SM. This is in the header file openplane.h

#define MAX_LOD_POLYGONS 4000
#define MAX_LOD_VERTICES 12000
#define MAX_LODS 1000
#define MAX_NAMES 1000
#define MAX_POLY_VERTICES 20
#define MAX_GROUPS 1000
#define MAX_PARTS 1000

Thanks for the info sir!

This explains some strange things I've seen with the LOD exports in certain models I've tried to build... I knew this really, but it has been so long I forgot! Embarassed

Hi gents,

Been a while. I had a 'small' hdd failure and lost a lot of data on my system. Sad Parts of the old drive are accessible but the bits with the terrain I was working an all seem to be in a damaged sector.

Mostly mad at myself for not backing up stuff fast enough while my drive was giving me ominous warnings.

#Mad

well I'm still interested in this project though I'll have to start from scratch again, lost most of my FSWWI stuff with it. What I was working on was using the FG-2.12 non corine terrain which is much more basic and easier to work with. I had a 6X6 tile compilation, of the north end of Alsace and bits of the west edge of the Rhine valley. Still rather triangle intensive though, but only about 800 Kilobytes in size without texturing.

I think it was about 6000 triangles. Maybe doing the Alsace/Vosges mountains isn't such a good idea with the limits.

Neat thing that new shader trick Mk7s is working with SDOE FS-WWI huh? Hope he posts up some screens or video's,

I have a recent video starring the Morane Saulnier BB conversion I've done with the MS-N FS-WWI model.

https://youtu.be/gJ5pUrUiVpg

This basically gives an overview of what can be done with OpenSceneGraph GL shaders

Awwww man so sorry to hear that! I too know all too well what it's like to lose data like that... It happened to me when I was working on the Indy Wing for SDOE. Sad

You know I do have a Indiana Jones 'wing' model from a previous FlightGear install, I think it's GPL also, and can be altered and played with. It's in an .ac format.

I have found part of the terrain I thought I had lost. I did save it in part to a subfolder in another accessible folder. I also saved the converted .png to .tiff files.

So things are looking up.

It might be the same Indy wing I had... I'll look around for the AC3d files when I get home today after work.

Glad you found those saved files!
