Hey guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has ever experienced something like this before, I seem to be getting 'washed out' textures no matter which renderer I use in SDOE.

I have a fairly recent spec machine (Dual Core, Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT) and I've tried tweaking quite a few settings (including colour depth to 16 or 32 bit) but I can't seem to rid myself of this. Sad

Here's a pic to demonstrate:

Is this normal? Maybe I need to jump back to earlier drivers?

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Harm

Yes, I get exactly this same effect after I installed Sdoe on my new computer running Vista with 4GB internal memory and Radeon 4550.Everthing else runs ok on it so could it be down to Windows Vista?Luckily I still have my older computer left which runs Sdoe just fine. What operating system do you have Harman?

For running in Vista, a general recommendation which works for BoB2 users (don't have Vista so I don't know how it works with SDOE) is "disabling visual themes and desktop composition in the compatibility tab of your application start icon, and running in administrator mode". This may help...

Thanks for the help guys, I'm actually running XP on my PC and I don't think I've experienced this issue before with XP on my older hardware...so I'm leaning towards my new fandangled hardware for the cause of my woes.

I've tried running compatibility mode and also disabling themes, etc all to no avail. The effect seems the worst when playing night missions.

It's no huge detractor from the game, but it's annoying all the same. Sad

Harman, get ahold of Riva Tuner and set the OpenGL String override to 1.5. It's a problem with how the newest drivers handle 8bit and 16bit textures.
