Yes I'm about 70 miles North of where that bombing took place.
The Japanese didn't take into account how wet our coastal forests are, we are considered a temperate rain forest. You would think their scientists would have known this.
Oregon also has the distinction of being the location of the first Japanese ship to shore shelling of a military base, at Cannon Beach I believe. We also had a few of the incendiary balloons make landfall, one of which killed a woman and two children on a picnic in the wooded hills above Garabaldi, OR. in 1947.
