Finally!

The full readme is below, but despite adding the IAR 80A, which is still very beta, the star of this one is the heavily revamped Ar 196. It's still a little rough in places as Legacy planes are by definition, but it's a vast improvement on what we had. It's available at ModDB at:

http://www.moddb.com/games/fighter-squadron-screamin-demons-over-europe/downloads/axis-legacy-planepack-v40

As usual, this is a cumulative release, so any prior versions of the pack are obsolete and not needed anymore.

Enjoy!

------------------------------------

Version 4

CHANGES

- New 'rough edge' Hangar shots & 'index card' stats.

- Some skins tweaked in some minor way (lightened, a little weathering, etc.).

- Plane names standardized.

- Do 17: Adjusted LOD switchin values so she looks better at a distance, deleted some bad low detail lods, corrected DOF placement on wings and ailerons, smoothed fuselage, wings, and tail section.

- He 177 loadout heavily revamped (no longer just a copy of the Ju 8Cool and model heavily reworked: Cleaned up control surface DOFs, left and right engine meshes so they don't flicker surfaces in and out, adjusted collision points, got rid of strange shadow objects and it has no shadow now, but at least the mess that was a shadow is gone, corrected loadout to get rid of the rocket mounts and to have all of the guns appear, adjusted inertia and flight model so she's slower to respond at higher speeds, corrected wheel and landing gear DOFs. No longer CTDs when in the same mission as a Ju 88. Adjusted LOD switchins so she doesn't look like a mess from a distance, corrected various bad code pointers for DOFs and dials, got rid of the landing gear doors, they were incorrect, now looks more accurate, moved front top observers dome closer to the front of the aircraft, made it so the inner cockpit wall wasn't visible sticking through the outside nose, added a 3d shadow and fixed the rear turret textures, corrected the fuselage body contact points and added tire friction to the wheels.

- Bf 109F-2 Trop: Barely rotating prop visual fixed.

- He 219: Corrected shading, 3d shadow added, fixed control surface DOFs, tweaked cockpit and frame 3d mesh, corrected wheel points, tweaked inertia placement, corrected DOFs for wheels so it can take off properly, LOD tweaks so it looks better at a distance, corrected upward firing gunsite placement, slight FM tweaks.

- Ju 87B-2: Increased the LOD switch out so the front nose wouldn't change to that of another model Stuka. No longer conflicts with other Ju 87s. Texture/SM file references fixed.

- Ju 88C-6: Corrected shading on wings, ailerons, and flaps, adjusted lods for the gondola and gunpod, added tire axle friction to all of the wheels, and set props to use Ju88C6 and not Ju88A4 models.

- Ar 196 heavily reworked and remodelled.

- A6M3 cleaned up and tweaked.

- IAR 80 added and tweaked from original.

CREDITS

All of the plane fixes are the work of ArgonV. Beta testing and He 177 loadout by Skid. Project direction, initial testing, and skin/GUI/loadout work were by 3dp.

I still got all the files on my backup HDD.

Just saw it last weekend, when I helped to set up a friend's computer. I always install SDOE then, if they like it or not. Very Happy

In most cases, they like it. So there are still new players coming in the backround. Players we don't notice here in our forum. Cool

If you create a ModDB user account, you can download the file. Looks like the Game Front link is dead - but only non-members get presented with that link. I think they (Game Front) purge files with some sort of filter that the 'axis' is triggering...

Axis of Evil... #evil I've been toying around with the HE177. Did it get a major revamp in the version 4 update? I kind of like the big ugly thing.

Thanks again.
