This is probably an old, old topic, and I'm not sure if anyone is even planning on creating new content for this sim, but..

I've been working with an .xml editor called Notepad++. It's free to download, it may even be open source, but the upshot is it opens all sorts of files in ascii and other less accessible formats and allows you to change their scripting, edit and replace, ( and this is the big one..) it will search out and replace all instances of a particular word or script with another.

I've been using NotePad++ in FlightGear to edit out the modern wind turbines and water tower model calls in the .stg text files, and replacing them with an old Flemish windmill and a wooden water tower, for the WWI mod. Seems to me the bugaboo of the f0 vertex shader problem with .sm shadow models would be handily dealt with using NotePad++

Hope everyone is having a good holidays.

Lester

Thanks! Indeed this is what I use to edit the shadow lods of the aircraft I create 3d shadows for these days. Doing it in Notepad was a tedious PITA! I started using this tool back when I was editing Aces Over Europe. I needed it for it's ASCII editing capabilities for that sim's data files.
